BricsCAD is a software application for Computer Aided Design (CAD), developed by Bricsys nv. The company was founded in 2002
by Erik de Keyser.
Today, BricsCAD is available for the Windows, Linux and macOS operating systems, and comes in five, workflow-centric Editions. Prior to the release of V21, a sixth edition called BricsCAD Platinum was available. With the release of V21, all BricsCAD Platinum functionality was moved to BricsCAD Pro, and the Platinum Edition was deprecated.
BricsCAD Communicator is an optional module that provides support for high quality 3D data exchange between major CAD formats. It facilitates the import and export of 3D CAD data including neutral (e.g. STEP and IGES), native MCAD (e.g. CATIA, Inventor, SolidWorks) and kernel specific formats.
Natively BricsCAD only supports DWG/DXF. Settings allows to save a DWG to a specific DWG (DXF) revision. See ‘Save as’ in the help project. Alternatively the Export command allows to export drawings to a variety of vector and raster formats. See ‘Export’ in the help project.
